Bjorn Family
If you’ve ever been to the Tetons, you know there’s something magical about the way those peaks rise up — strong, steady, and beautiful no matter the weather. On the day of this session, though, they weren’t just majestic… they were moody. The clouds rolled in, the rain came down, and we’ll be honest our hearts sank just a little as we pulled up and saw the mist wrapping around the mountains.
But here’s the thing about photography (and life): sometimes the best moments come from the unexpected ones.
Despite the cold and drizzle, this little family showed up with the warmest hearts and the biggest smiles. Leah and Russ were absolute troopers, calm, joyful, and completely present. We felt instantly comfortable with them, like we could’ve been friends long before this session even began. Their connection was so natural and full of love; it made our job easy.
Leah is a PTA (and fun fact she actually worked at the same place where I did my first clinical!), and Russ moved to Idaho for hunting, something Ben has grown up doing and absolutely loves, so they had plenty to talk about! It felt like the kind of session where conversation flows easily and you forget for a little while that you’re even “working.”
And then there were their two adorable little ones. Their toddler was full of curiosity and giggles, running through the damp grass like the chill didn’t even phase him, while their baby snuggled up tight, cozy and calm. Watching them together was the sweetest reminder that family joy doesn’t depend on perfect weather it comes from being together, right where you are.
By the end of the session, the rain lightened, the Tetons peeked through the clouds, and we found ourselves smiling behind the camera, thankful for the way it all turned out. The photos have this soft, glowy light and a romantic mist that feels straight out of a movie.
Even though they’re heading back home to Michigan soon, we’re so grateful we got to cross paths here in Idaho. It’s amazing how quickly people can go from “clients” to “friends you’ll never forget.”
To the Bjorn family thank you for braving the cold, laughing through the rain, and reminding us that beauty shines brightest when things don’t go as planned. You are both some of the kindest and most genuine people we have ever met.
