Drew & McKayla | An October Cabin Wedding by the Lake

There are some wedding days that just fill your soul up, and Drew and McKayla’s October wedding was one of those days for us.

From the moment we pulled up to the cozy little Airbnb cabin — tucked away in my own hometown, believe it or not! — we knew it was going to be something special. Somehow, we had no idea this hidden gem even existed. The cabin overlooked a peaceful little lake, surrounded by trees bursting into shades of golden yellow — the kind of fall color you dream about.

Their ceremony took place right by the water, with the trees standing tall and glowing behind them, as if the whole forest was celebrating too. It was breathtakingly beautiful, but what truly made the day shine was them.

Drew and McKayla are the kind of couple that make our job so easy. They’re full of laughter, full of life, and so clearly full of love for one another. They giggle, tease, snuggle, and light up every moment they’re together — and as photographers, that’s the perfect combination. We had the joy of photographing their engagement session earlier this year, and seeing them again on their wedding day felt like reuniting with old friends.

After the ceremony, we wandered into a quiet little grove near the cabin for their bridal and group photos — the sunlight dancing through the leaves, wrapping everything in a warm, golden glow. It was pure magic.

One of our favorite moments of the entire day was during the mother–son dance. Instead of tears, there was laughter, joy, and genuine celebration. Drew’s mom was so full of happiness, welcoming McKayla with open arms. It was such a beautiful reminder that weddings aren’t just about two people joining together — they’re about families growing, too.

And can we just say… the food! Ben is still talking about that delicious soup. Every detail of the day felt so thoughtful, cozy, and full of love — just like Drew and McKayla themselves.

By the end of the night, we weren’t just saying goodbye to clients — we were saying goodbye to friends. And that’s one of the things we love most about this job.

Drew and McKayla, we are so thankful to have been a small part of your story. We wish you both a lifetime of laughter, adventure, and the kind of love that only grows deeper with time.

Congratulations, you two — we’re cheering you on always! 🤍
