Golden Autumn Session with the Sheffer Family
There’s just something about fall in Pocatello, Idaho. The hills glow golden, the air turns crisp and sweet, and every tree seems to catch fire with color. It’s the kind of season that begs to be remembered — and photographing the Sheffer family during this magical time was the perfect way to do just that.
Some evenings just feel like a gift, and our evening with the Sheffer family was exactly that. The mountains stood tall and soft in the background, and this sweet family of three brought all the heart.
We first met the Sheffers through another amazing family we photographed in the Tetons earlier this year (and we’re still so grateful for those kindhearted referrals!). From the first message, we could tell the Sheffers were going to be such a joy to work with — relaxed, kind, and full of love for one another.
When they arrived, we instantly fell in love with their little girl. Just one baby, perfectly bundled for fall, full of curiosity and charm. She had the sweetest smile and the kind of bright eyes that make you forget there’s a camera in your hand — because all you want to do is smile back. Watching her snuggled between her mom and dad, giggling at the crunch of the leaves or the sound of the breeze, reminded us why we love what we do. These are the moments that fade too fast, and capturing them feels like preserving a piece of time.
The light that evening was something special. We were worried that it would be rainy, but we were able to catch the weather at just the right time, it was overcast, but just enough to give the perfect creamy lighting. As the Sheffers laughed together, walked hand in hand, and shared quiet cuddles, everything came together — love, light, and family — in the most natural way.
As the evening came to a close, we lingered for just one last series of photos as the sun disappeared behind the mountains. Baby wrapped up in mom’s arms, dad watching with that gentle, proud look every parent knows, and the soft Pocatello glow surrounding them — it was the perfect ending to a perfect fall session.
