A Joyful 60th Birthday Family Session
There’s something so special about the kind of love that brings people home. When we first pulled up to this session, we could already feel the excitement in the air — the kind of buzz that only happens when a family hasn’t been all together in a long time. This session was extra special, though. The kids had planned the sweetest surprise for their mom’s 60th birthday: updated family photos with everyone there. And we mean everyone — kids, grandkids, spouses — all gathered in one place to celebrate the woman who means the world to them.
The sweetest part? They all traveled back home just for this.
From the moment we met them, we knew this was going to be one of those sessions we’d remember for a long time. This family was so kind, so welcoming, and so easy to be around. The kind of people who make you feel like you’ve known them for years, even if you’ve just met. And their outfits? Oh my goodness. Absolute perfection. A gorgeous blend of colors that worked beautifully together, with a timeless, classy feel that made the whole gallery look straight out of a magazine.
The weather was warm, but not too warm — just enough for a soft, golden glow in the open spaces, and a comfortable shade when we needed it. It’s been a long time since we’ve photographed at this particular location, but after this session, it’s officially going back on our “must-shoot” list. The light, the scenery, the atmosphere… everything came together in the best way.
Photographing large families — especially with lots of little ones — can sometimes be a challenge, but this crew was amazing. The adults worked together so seamlessly to help us get all the kids smiling and looking our way. They stayed behind us (so no one accidentally made it into the shot!) and had candy ready for just the right moments. And honestly? We’re all about the candy bribery life — especially when it works this well!
By the end of the evening, we had so many beautiful images — from big group shots to sweet little in-between moments that really show the love this family has for each other. We left feeling grateful, inspired, and with full hearts, knowing we’d just captured memories that would be treasured for years to come.
